After a commitment from a homebuilder fell through, three Houston-area moms decided to take matters into their own hands to create the dream playground they'd always envisioned for their neighborhood of 550 homes. Upon learning that the local Municipal Utility Department would consider funding local community improvement projects, they immediately began to develop a proposal. Working with their local Little Tikes Commercial rep, Peter Anderson of All Play, they created their wish list, and after months of hard work they got the funding they requested.

The result is proof positive that dreams can come true, especially if you are one of the lucky kids who live in the Westgreen Park neighborhood. "It's fantastic," says Margaret Needham, one of the three original moms, and currently chairman of the subdivision board. "The kids especially love the red ATV, the Infinity Climbers and running across the entire structure from end to end. The entire structure is covered with a giant shade, which helps protect kids from heat and UV rays."

The massive playground, which is located near a subdivision pool and a splash pad, is now a hot ticket for birthday parties, barbeques and other family gatherings. "Families come from the surrounding neighborhoods and schools to enjoy the play structure and new friendships are always being forged," says Needham. "We're extremely proud of our community for supporting this effort. It’s a great feeling to know we did it!"
